CER EVENT at the Slovenian Pavilion - January 18th, 2022

»Concrete steps and projects to achieve climate goals and establish foundations for the creation of a modern climate-neutral economy"

The business environment is changing rapidly. Financial indicators are no longer the only indicators of business performance. Banks, insurance companies, investors, supply chain stakeholders, informed customers and the public expect and demand transparent disclosure of data on the impact of business operations on the environment and society as well as coordinating business with net-zero strategies. All of this creates tremendous pressure on companies ’strategic decisions on how to change their business models. The key to making the right decisions and business models, however, is data which can enable companies to make effective decisions in the future, reduce their risks and increase opportunities.

The round table will highlight the importance of preparing and implementing measures that activate and motivate companies, the wider community, and all individuals to take action to achieve long-term climate goals. It will also highlight business opportunities and new circular business models driven by the green transition. In an uncertain global and local business field, those who measure their business footprint and turn climate and business risks into opportunities will win in the coming decades. The price of inaction will be unequivocally higher than the price of green transformation.

In addition to all the burdens, the positive side of the green transition is that it brings companies the opportunity to reduce costs, optimize energy consumption and use of natural resources, increase efficiency and employee competencies, promote innovation, create more sustainable products and services that can be repaired, recycled, and reused. The green transition also brings companies access to green finance, and an opportunity to strengthen the resilience of its supply chains. In this way, companies can invest heavily in increasing competitiveness, creating new market opportunities, and bringing added value.
