CEOs from over 150 businesses, investors and business and investor networksare calling on EU policymakers to support an EU 2030 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction target of at least 55 per cent. Among the signatories are also five representatives of Slovenian business, Iskraemeco, Lumar, Skaza, Knauf Insulation and CER - Sustainable Business Network.
Ahead of the EU's Commission President Ursula von der Leyen State of the Union 2020 speech and ahead of Climate Week in New York, more than 160 business leaders are urging European leaders to avoid the worst effects of climate change and ensure a sustainable, competitive economic recovery by then:
- endorsing the objectives set out in the European Green agreement
- submitting resilient reconstruction plans that enable the green investments required for climate neutrality
- agreeing a clearly defined target to reduce domestic greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030 and related targets
