The 'Fit for 55' legislative package is expected to be proposed by the European Commission on 14 July 2021. For Slovenia, this will also be one of the key dossiers during its presidency of the EU Council. It will be particularly important to address the comprehensive package as a whole, even though it consists of 12 diverse legislative acts.

In the context of the European Green Deal and in particular the aforementioned new climate and energy package, the online event will highlight the adopted legislative proposal to the relevant Slovenian stakeholders from different fields (environment, energy, economy, and finance) even before the hearing in the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament.

Talking to the different stakeholders and their response to the legislative package is essential for the European Commission. At the same time, for the success of the proposed package which is intended to lead to a climate-neutral Europe, it will be important at this early stage to raise awareness among the key stakeholders most affected by the legislative proposals.

At the online event, therefore, we want to explain the legislative package and then open an open discussion with the interested stakeholders. At the same time, the aim is to raise awareness of Slovenian stakeholders about the European Commission's climate and energy policies and to encourage them to play an active role in public consultations of the European Commission and in the process of the Conference on the Future of Europe where climate and energy issues are one of the main topics.

The online event will be held in the Slovenian and English languages with simultaneous interpretation.
