In order to revise and update its climate and energy legislation in light of the new greenhouse gas emissions reduction target of at least 55% by 2030, the European Commission is due to present a Fit for 55 Package on 14 July. Its elements will include a revision of the EU emissions trading scheme (ETS), Effort Sharing Regulation (including buildings and transport), renewable energy, energy efficiency and land use. A successful design and delivery of the package will be crucial to enable the EU to achieve its climate objectives in a way that contributes to its economic recovery.
Against this backdrop, this high-level Green Growth Partnership (GGP) webinar will be an opportunity for high-level representatives from the Green Growth Group, Members of the European Parliament and business to provide initial reactions to the publication of the Package and formulate recommendations on the way forward to achieve climate objectives and the transition towards a prosperous, competitive and climate neutral Europe.
