Mobility of the future is already available today

Company: BMW Group

The extremely rapid changes in environment, global trends, the need for greater efficiency, development, sustainability, connectivity and many other factors are radically changing the world in which we live. The automotive industry, over a century old, is changing faster than ever before. And the BMW Group is ready to face challenges as it is driven by two key principles. On the one hand, a clear vision of the future and its own, daring path, and, on the other hand, a long-term, sustainable orientation. In its strategy, called NUMBER ONE> NEXT, the Group has set up key fields of operation, namely autonomous driving, connectivity, electrification and services that ensure sustainable growth.

With its BMW i brand, the BMW Group is a pioneer in the field of electric mobility and with its wide range of electrified and fully electric vehicles, it offers the mobility of the future already today. In 2017, 100,000 electrified vehicles were delivered to customers, in 2018 over 140,000 followed, and by the end of 2019 there will be more than half a million on the roads all together. These are the figures representing the success of the strategy set, positioning the BMW Group at the very top of the world's leading electrified vehicle suppliers.

The wide range of electrified vehicles will only expand. From November 2017, the BMW i3 and BMW i3s, with a new 120 Ah battery, are available, and in 2019 the brand-new hybrid BMW 3 Series and BMW X5 are expected on the market along with other models. From 2021, BMW i4 and iNEXT will be manufactured in Munich and Dingolfing, and in 2020, the production of the first fully electric BMW iX3 will begin in China. By 2025, BMW Group will offer as many as 25 electrified models, of which 12 fully electric. The BMW iNEXT will be much more than just a vehicle, by combining all strategic fields of innovation: autonomous driving, zero-emission electric mobility, full connectivity and artificial intelligence which will offer a completely new experience. It will embody the BMW Group's mobility vision.

Uroš Dolenc
Director of BMW i and MINI

"At the BMW Group, we believe that the best way to predict the future is by creating it yourself. By establishing the BMW i sub-brand which joins the electric cars of the BMW brand, already in 2011, we announced the revolution in the mobility of the future. Electric mobility and a carbonless future are key elements of our corporate strategy that continues to consolidate the position and reputation of BMW Group. The strategy for the future is based on the electrification of as many models as possible, in order to be able to offer by 2025 as many as 25 fully electric and hybrid vehicles worldwide."
