Steward Leadership
Challenges of business growth in the 21st century and a model for organizational and personal success
A half day workshop for company leadership representatives
What is "Steward Leadership"?
It is responsible stewardship oriented leadership that clearly expresses a leader’s stance as a steward of people, resources, and the future.
- The world is experiencing environmental degradation, inequality, and geopolitical tensions, which increase economic uncertainty and disrupt classic business models.
- Regulation and reporting alone rarely create the greatest positive impacts. Most of a company’s market value comes from intangible factors such as culture, leadership, and talent, which receive too little attention from leadership teams.
- There are an estimated 10.1 trillion US dollars in annual opportunities in solving environmental and social challenges, and consumers increasingly reward responsible practices.
- Progress requires proactive innovation and values driven transformation, not only rules and financial incentives.
- The Steward Leadership Compass model helps connect profit and purpose and enables truly sustainable business performance.
Based on global research on companies that succeed by doing well by doing good, the
Stewardship Asia Center developed the
Steward Leadership Compass©, a modern leadership and governance model that helps companies align profit with purpose and achieve genuine sustainability.
Workshop program
In the workshop participants will explore the concept of success through responsible action and review existing ESG frameworks and success factors. This will introduce Steward Leadership. Participants will learn about the limitations of current approaches to governance and understand the need for stewardship oriented management and leadership. The discussion will open the question of why companies should move from ESG to ESL where L stands for Steward Leadership.
Using the
Faber Castell case study, participants will analyze the current state of a company in ESG and Steward Leadership, identify gaps, and consider concrete steps for meaningful progress.
